01/02/2024

For the first time, Russia received over $45 billion from agricultural exports by the end of 2023.

Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev noted that last year all sub-sectors showed decent results.

For example, it turned out to be the second grain harvest in the country's history. According to preliminary data, this is about 143 million tons. And with the new regions, about 147 million tons are expected. Livestock breeders have increased milk production by at least half a million tons and meat production by 300 thousand tons. And the fishermen have the maximum catch of aquatic biological resources in 30 years – more than 5 million tons. In particular, Russia became the world's first salmon producer: the volume exceeded 600 thousand tons.

According to Agroexport, in 2022, the main supplies of Russian food were sent to China, Turkey, the EU, Kazakhstan, Belarus, South Korea, Egypt and other countries. Data on the geography of exports for 2023 have not yet been published.

Compared with 2022, exports of agro-industrial products increased by more than $4 billion. According to Dmitry Patrushev, the production figures allowed Russia to reconfirm its status as a net exporter of agricultural products.
