The US imported a record amount of fertilizers from Russia

The United States has reached a record for importing fertilizers from Russia: from January to July 2023, Washington increased the volume of purchases to $ 944 million.

The previous maximum was recorded in 2022. Then the volume of imports reached $900 million in 7 months. As a result, the amount of purchases increased by 5% this year compared to last year.

Thus, Russia has become the second largest supplier of fertilizers to the United States. The first place was taken by Canada, from which the American side purchased $ 2.8 billion. The top five suppliers also include Saudi Arabia ($484.4 million), Israel ($216 million) and Qatar ($214.2 million).

It should be noted that in the spring of 2022, the United States secured itself from a shortage of chemical products and equated Russian fertilizers with essential products. According to experts, the reason was a shortage on the world market due to a violation of the logistics of supplies from the Russian Federation.
