In Astana, Vladimir Putin met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The Russian president stressed the growing trade turnover between the two countries and noted that the prospects for partnership in this regard are "very good," primarily in the energy sector and the agricultural industry.

Putin recalled that domestic energy supplies to Pakistan have recently started, and Russia is ready to increase them in the future.

Then Sharif specified the amount of trade turnover — $ 1 billion. And he specified: Pakistan hopes for oil supplies from Russia.

The prime minister also recalled the history of mutual import-export of goods in the middle of the last century: Pakistan imported machinery and products from the USSR, and exported textiles and leather on a barter basis. Now Pakistan is offering to expand cooperation. As Sharif said, the probability of barter is also very high today.
