China and Russia will expand transportation of dangerous goods

19/03/2024

Perhaps everyone knows that the business of China and Russia is very closely connected. So, countries trade a wide range of goods. Logistics are excellent. Cargo is delivered from country to country by air, by sea, by road and by rail. Now we can safely say that the amount of dangerous cargo sent from China to Russia and in the opposite direction will increase.

The Chinese and Russian delegations have already held relevant negotiations on the organization of transportation of dangerous goods. The parties agreed to expand the list of goods that will be allowed for transportation. The countries also plan to simplify obtaining permits for transporting goods of this type.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the list is planned to be expanded by more than 120 positions. The parties have already agreed on the list. All that remains is to add it to the annex on the Agreement on Dangerous Goods.

What benefits will this give to business?

It will be possible to freely transport goods such as batteries and accumulators. They are especially often used in the IT sector, electronics production or mechanical engineering. For example, China is making great strides in producing electric cars. To assemble Russian analogues, it will be possible to import batteries from China.

It will also be possible to safely import products with built-in batteries in large quantities at once. These are, for example, portable batteries and other batteries.

It will be a big plus for companies that transport construction materials. For example, the rules for transporting acids, paints, adhesives, and chemical products will be simplified.

Carriers of medicines and beauty products will also benefit.

It is also reported that priority passage of trucks with dangerous goods will be introduced on the Russian-Chinese border. This should help reduce traffic safety risks.

What now?

So far the decision has not entered into force. Changes must be made to the bilateral Agreement on Dangerous Goods and approved at the state level.

Conclusion

The expansion of dangerous goods transportation should have a positive impact on the development of logistics between countries, as well as on business in China and Russia. There will also be benefits for product buyers. Thus, they will be able to order a larger number of goods from China, and the delivery time of goods will be reduced.
